    The Delosperma echinatum, commonly known as the Pickle Plant, is a charming and quirky succulent native to South Africa. Its nickname comes from its small, elongated, pickle-like leaves, which are covered in soft, white bristles that give it a fuzzy, crystalline appearance. These glistening hairs help reflect intense sunlight and provide the plant with a unique texture that sets it apart from other succulents.

    This plant grows as a low-spreading or slightly trailing succulent, typically reaching about 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 cm) in height. With its compact size and unusual look, it is ideal for container gardens, windowsills, or hanging baskets where its stems can gently cascade over the edge. During the warmer months, the Delosperma echinatum may surprise you with small, daisy-like yellow flowers that add a bright pop of color against its textured foliage.

    To keep this Pickle Plant thriving, provide it with bright, indirect light or a few hours of direct morning sun. It prefers a warm, dry environment and should be planted in well-draining soil to prevent root rot.     Bright, indirect light: This plant prefers plenty of light. While it does enjoy direct sunlight, this should be exposed in the morning as too much direct sunlight can scorch the stems.

    Water once every 2-3 weeks: Water every 2-3 weeks or when the soil feels dry to the touch. The stems can store water in its leaves for extended periods of time. Overwatering can cause root rot.

    Temperature

    Warm temperatures: This plant prefer temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C) in the growing months with low humidity. Can tolerate temperatures as low as 40°F only for short period of time. 

      1. Window Position: Place your pickle plant near a south or west-facing window indoors where it can receive plenty of bright, filtered sunlight. 
      2. Succulent/Cactus Mix: For this succulent, a well-draining succulent soil mix is preferred as this soil mimics a dry desert environment. 
      3. Repot every 2-3 years: Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes too large for its container.
      4. Handle with Care: This succulent is covered in fine hairs that can be very sensitive to the skin. Be gentle and wash hand after handling.
      5. Propagates easily: This cactus can be easily propagated by cutting off stem pads (cladodes) and allowing it to dry and callus for a few days before planting it in well-draining succulent soil.

Shipping live plants back and forth can cause unnecessary stress and jeopardize the health of the plant. We encourage customers to choose carefully before placing an order.       Can I order and receive plants during the winter?

      Yes, we ship plants year-round! Our shipments are carefully packaged to ensure we deliver healthy plants to your door every day of the year. We monitor the weather across the country and will include heat packs at no extra charge to keep your plants warm during shipping. If weather conditions are extreme (e.g., storm or severe winter), we will inform you of an updated delivery date that we believe is more appropriate.

      How can I change my order details?

      To update your order details, please contact us within 24 hours of placing your order. We care about all our customers and will like to ship the correct item to the right location. We are not held responsible for orders shipped to incorrect addresses. In addition, we cannot cancel orders that has already been shipped.

      If I order more than one plant, will they ship separately?

      Items apart of the same order typically ship together. In rare circumstances, the items may ship from both our Southern California and Florida greenhouses and could arrive in separate packages at different times. For these instances, once each item is shipped, you'll receive individual tracking information for each package, so you can easily track their progress.

      We currently ship to the contiguous United States which consists of the 48 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.

      Do you offer same-day or next-day delivery?

      Unfortunately, we do not offer same-day or next-day delivery. Plants require careful preparation and packaging to ensure they arrive healthy and in optimal condition, we take the necessary time to pack them properly. This ensures that your plants are shipped safely and arrive ready to thrive.
